This past week I was finally able to try HelloFresh, my very first ‘meals-at-home’ food delivery service.
Since I do so much cooking and baking during the week, I rarely pay attention to meal delivery services. We always have an abundance of food in the house with all the recipe development going on, plus I love grocery shopping (yes, I am weird) to get all the dinner supplies.
I was really intrigued by HelloFresh (use the code RACHEL35 for $35 off BTW!) and how convenient they claim to make cooking a meal at home for its customers. All the meals take no more than 30 minutes to make. Plus they deliver the ingredients that you need to make a meal directly to your home with easy-to-understand instructions on how to make it. HelloFresh includes everything from the garlic to chili fakes to the lime you will need. All you need to add is any oils, sprays, etc.
The meals are pre-measured and portioned to help us cut back on wasting food (we are all guilty of this), and to help us cut back on spending money on groceries. They also are completely balanced with protein, fresh veggies and a starch thanks to their in-house R.D. that they work with.
What really drew me in was how unique the recipes are. The meals that were sent to me were nothing like anything I usually make. I wasn’t obsessed with all the ingredients sent for each meal, but since I live with a human garbage disposal (hi, Jord), nothing went to waste. You are able to really pick and choose what you want to use for each meal. For example, in the Southwestern Tortellini Salad, I didn’t want to use the sour cream, so I omitted it. If you don’t have a human garbage disposal at home, don’t waste anything still! Bring it to work or give it to a friend or neighbor.
My package came with 3 meals: Herby Asparagus and Tomato Bake, Skillet Seitan Enchiladas and the Southwestern Tortellini Salad that you are drooling over in the photos. The portion sizes weren’t anything to crazy either, so even if you live alone you can tupperware leftovers and bring them to work the next day for lunch.
Since I don’t eat meat, I also specified that I wanted the “veggie box” when ordering and said for 2 people. I also wasn’t really sure what recipes were coming since the Chef changes them each week.
The Southwestern Tortellini Salad was pretty light too, especially since I omitted the sour cream. I also loved how the black beans were organic and low sodium as well, which was really appreciated.
Have you babes tried any meal delivery services before? I definitely see what the hype is all about. Especially if meal planning and grocery shopping are your not your favorite things to do.
In the meantime, use the code RACHEL35 for $35 off your HelloFresh order! This isn’t an affiliate link.. just a super sweet deal for ya’ll.
