I am probably the 1% of people who aren’t a fan of Thanksgiving. I’ve never been a meat & potato girl, incase you couldn’t tell by now, I’m much more into the breakfast and dessert scene. Every year on Thanksgiving, we go to my grandparent’s house where they make all the traditional foods for Thanksgiving. For most, this meal is where you break out your favorite stretchy pants that are still somewhat presentable and try not to eat all day before dinner (which is the worst thing EVER for you FYI), so they can gorge themselves later at Thanksgiving dinner.
Now me on the other hand, I’ll start my day out normally with breakfast (obviously Pumpkin Overnight Oats), snack (a Pumpkin Crumble Muffins), lunch, snack, then head to Thanksgiving dinner where I usually only eat like 4 things that are served for dinner. I’m lucky enough that I usually get grilled salmon made for me (I don’t eat meat), then I like the brussels sprouts, apple sauce, biscuits and that’s pretty much it. So as my Dad goes back for another serving of turkey and mashed potatoes, I’ll be waiting for the magical dessert hour. All of the pumpkin, pecan & apple goodies surround me and that’s where I get to enjoy myself. Everyone else is using complaining about how full they are from dinner and I’m over here like “hey, hi, hello, DESSERT TIME!”.
Anyways, I do try to only fuel myself with the desserts that are made with whole/organic ingredients (unless it’s some type of cookie or something I have no self control around).
I gathered some of my favorite Thanksgiving dessert recipes here from some bloggers for your Thanksgiving dessert inspiration.
Hope everyone has a wonderful, safe & happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy every moment with your family and friends.
