Savory Sausage and Cheese Challah Pudding is the *best* way to switch things up from the classic cinnamon challah french toast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 lb ground breakfast sausage
  • Loaf of challah bread, a few days old if possible, cut into 1-inch squares (about 8-9 cups)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk
  • Sea salt and back pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a 10inch oval baking dish
  2. In a large skillet cook onion in a little oil for about 5 minutes or until it starts to golden a bit
  3. Add in the breakfast sausage and cook until fully cooked through
  4. In a large bowl whisk together the eggs, milk and salt and pepper
  5. Add in the bread and mix well then fold in cooked sausage and onions
  6. Pour into the baking dish then sprinkle cheese on top
  7. Bake in oven for 35-40 minutes then serve!

Notes

*Store in fridge for 5 days and reheat in oven or microwave
