Instructions

  1. Prep Your Cool Whip: Remove the Cool Whip from the freezer and let it thaw. You want it soft enough to fold in chocolate but not liquid. This is important for getting those perfectly creamy bars that hold their shape.

  2. Melt the Semi-Sweet Chocolate: Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-30 second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth. If needed, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to make the chocolate extra silky and easy to fold.

  3. Mix Chocolate into Cool Whip: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted semi-sweet chocolate with the softened Cool Whip. Fold gently until fully incorporated. The mixture should be smooth, creamy, and slightly glossy.

  4. Transfer to Baking Dish: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper. Pour in the chocolate-Cool Whip mixture and smooth it out evenly. This will be the base of your candy bars.

  5. Freeze Until Firm: Place the dish in the freezer for at least 1-2 hours, or until the mixture is firm enough to cut. You want it solid but not rock hard – think perfect, scoopable frozen fudge.

  6. Slice into Bars: Once firm, remove from the freezer and lift out using the parchment paper. Slice into 16 equal-sized pieces. This creates the perfect individual candy bars.

  7. Coat with Dark Chocolate: Melt your dark chocolate chips with a little coconut oil if needed. Dip or spoon the dark chocolate over each Cool Whip bar, fully coating it. Don’t worry if the bars start to soften—just return them to the freezer for a few minutes to firm up.

  8. Add Sprinkles (Optional): While the chocolate coating is still soft, add sprinkles or other toppings if desired. It’s a fun way to customize your bars for holidays, birthdays, or just a fun snack.

  9. Set in the Freezer: Place the coated bars back in the freezer until the chocolate is firm. Once set, they’re ready to enjoy! Keep them stored in an airtight container in the freezer to maintain that perfect creamy texture.
