Sharing my absolute favorite tuna melt recipe here on the blog! Served on your go-to bread, bagel, english muffin or anything! Hands down my favorite comfort meal made a bit healthier.

  • Prep Time: 5 mins
  • Cook Time: 2 mins
  • Total Time: 7 mins

Yield: 1 tuna melt 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 5-ounce can wild tuna
  • 1.5 tablespoons mayo of choice
  • Splash of dijon mustard
  • Chopped onion, celery and carrot (I ran out when I made this one but usually it is added)
  • Sea salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 pieces of bread, bagel or english muffin of choice
  • 1 slices cheese of choice (or dairy-free cheese but I used organic american)

Instructions

  1. Toast each slice of bread until golden
  2. Drain any excess liquid from tuna can into sink
  3. Add tuna to bowl and mix in mayo, mustard, celery/carrot/onion and sea salt and pepper and mash all together to make the tuna salad
  4. Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper and add tuna salad to each slice of bread and add to sheet
  5. Add slice of cheese on top and broil for about 2 minutes or so (the cheese will bubble)
  6. Remove from oven and enjoy while warm
