This healthy French Onion Dip always hits the spot. It is such an easy dip recipe to make and healthier than the traditional version. Plus this recipe is high in protein and is absolutely delicious.

  • Cook Time: 30 mins
  • Total Time: 45 mins

Yield: Serves 6


  • 3 sweet white onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Sea salt and blake pepper to taste
  • 1 cup greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Fresh chives, chopped


  1. In a large skillet, add butter and melt over medium/high heat
  2. Add in onions and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on medium heat, stirring occasionally
  3. Then add salt and pepper to taste here and mix around
  4. Turn heat to low and cover and cook for 30 to 60 minutes or until onions are golden brown and caramelized (stirring occasionally)
  5. While onions cook, mix together yogurt, cottage cheese and garlic powder in a large bowl and set aside
  6. When onions have cooked and cooled a bit, add to dip then add in chives and mix together
  7. Serve with desired crackers, chips or veggies!


*Store leftovers in fridge for 5 days
