This easy beef and broccoli is a made in one skillet. It is packed with flavor, takes 15 minutes to make and it is a family favorite. The sauce itself is so dreamy and it kids my kids to eat their greens (helllllo!).

I love this simple dish so much. Every time I make it, I question how good it is for how simple it is to make. You can serve this over rice, noodles or leave it as is. It is full of wholesome ingredients and it is much healthier than takeout. You can feel good about feeding this to you and your family and feel real good when it’s this easy to make.

What ingredients you need to make Beef and Broccoli:

  • Coconut aminos – I use this instead of soy sauce 
  • Beef, chicken or vegetable broth – use your go-to broth. Any of these work
  • Sesame oil – toasted sesame oil is great in this sauce 
  • Arrowroot flour – you could use tapioca flour or cornstarch 
  • Garlic cloves – freshly minced garlic is best
  • Ginger – use ground or freshly grated ginger
  • Flank steak, skirt steak, sirloin steak – any of these cuts can work for this
  • Olive oil – or your go-to cooking oil. You could use sesame oil too if you want
  • Broccoli – I used frozen and heated it up in microwave for 3 minutes first

How to make this one-skillet Beef and Broccoli:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the sauce ingredients and set aside
  2. Heat 1 tablespoons oil in skillet over medium-high heat and add the beef in a single layer cooking just until browned on both sides (about 2-3 minutes or so)
  3. Next pour the sauce on top and simmer for 2-3 minutes then add in broccoli and mix it all together
  4. Serve with sesame seeds if desired over rice, noodles, or as is!

  1. What kind of beef works best? A good cut like sirloin, flank steak, rib-eye or skirt steak works best for this. I look for grass-fed/grass-finished.
  2. How do I cut the steak correctly? Slice against the grain, not parallel with it and cut it into thin slices about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. I don’t eat beef, what else can I do? Use chicken! Gives it full on chicken teriyaki vibes, which is also so good.
  4. This recipe is quick! I recommend having the ingredients all ready so you can make this seamlessly.

  6. Can I double this recipe? Absolutely. If you are serving more than 4, feel free to double the recipe to serve more and make enough leftovers.
  7. What can I do with the leftovers? Store in fridge for 3-5 days and reheat in microwave or in skillet. I like to add a splash of broth to thin the sauce out too. Not mandatory but I like to do it.

Stir fry sauce:

  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos
  • 1/2 cup beef, chicken or vegetable broth
