Dairy-free Protein Cookie Dough. Make the viral cottage cheese cookie dough but make it dairy-free and it takes just 5 minutes to make.
Edible cookie dough that is completely vegan, gluten-free, has protein AND actually tastes good?! I know – seems too good to be true guys, but it’s real and it is incredibly easy to make.
This recipe is inspired by the cottage cheese cookie dough except there is no cottage cheese in it. And NO – no chickpeas or beans or anything either. You only need a few simple ingredients to put to together and it is absolutely delicious – you will love it.
I make this with an Oreo-like twist too by using some gluten-free chocolate sandwich cookies. You could also do some peanut butter cups, chocolate chips or anything you want based off what you are craving. OH even some sprinkles for a funfetti vibe?!
It is perfect for a post workout snack, dessert post any meal or after school snack. You can make it into little bites or balls or spoon it from the bowl. However you enjoy it, you will be licking your bowl or plate *clean*.
What ingredients you need to make protein cookie dough:
- Dairy-free yogurt – I used Trader Joe’s organic cashew but really any can work
- Maple syrup – or honey if you prefer over syrup
- Vanilla extract – a must for cookie-dough flavor
- Almond flour – or use oat flour but use 1/4 cup less and add more as needed as almond flour absorbs more liquid than oat flour
- Vanilla protein powder – or your favorite protein powder! Chocolate could work too but it’ll give it more brownie vibes
- Gluten-free chocolate sandwich cookies – Oreo type cookies work best!
How to make vegan protein cookie dough:
- In a medium bowl mix the yogurt, syrup and vanilla extract together
- Mix in flour and protein powder until combined
- Fold in cookies to dough and ENJOY!
FAQs on making dairy-free cookie dough:
- What is the best way to store this? In the fridge for up to 5 days. Or you can roll into little bites and add into the freezer for 2 months.
- Can I bake this into cookies? No, I don’t recommend it. It is made with the intention to be eaten raw and if you are looking for cookies, try my Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies (gluten-free) or my Gluten-free Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
- What other mix-in’s can I use besides cookies? Chocolate chips, sprinkles, nuts, anything you want!
- Do I need to add protein powder? In order for this to be higher in protein, yes! But if you don’t love protein powder just add more almond flour instead.
