If you love broccoli cheddar anything, you will love these meatballs. You know I love a good meatball recipe and these are a family favorite. My kids love them, my husband devoured them and I love how they are ready in under 30 minutes AND have veggies in them!

This meatball recipe is foolproof and something that really cannot be messed up. The broccoli and cheddar combination is favorite for many and when you serve this with some cheesy pasta, you are in for a delicious meal. I love a good comfort food meal that also is healthy and nourishing like these meatballs.

These delicious broccoli and cheese meatballs are oven-baked, made with gluten-free ingredients and they are a great food prep recipe since they last for 5 days in the fridge. Or you can store them in the freezer for 2 months if you want to keep them on hand.

I cannot wait to hear what you think of these meatballs. I think you (and your kids) will all love them so much. And if you are dairy-free, use a vegan cheese option. I do think they will still be just as delicious!

These meatballs are also a great option for infants too. My 15 month old loves these meatballs and I cut them up to make them into a finger-food for him too. He loves to eat meatballs! Plus ground meat is easier for them to chew/digest.

Keep me posted if you make them soon!

What ingredients you need to make these Broccoli Cheddar Meatballs:

  • Ground chicken or turkey – either meat can work here. They both have a neutral flavor too
  • Broccoli florets – I use frozen ones since my kids prefer those and I almost always have them on hand!
  • Egg – I haven’t tried an egg sub here
  • Almond flour – I haven’t tried another sub but you can use breadcrumbs too or gluten-free breadcrumbs if you are gluten-free
  • Shredded cheddar cheese – I usually buy a block of sharp cheddar cheese and freshly grate it
  • Onion powder – for flavor
  • Garlic powder – same here for flavor and I like the garlic powder over cloves for this

How to make broccoli and cheese meatballs:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line and grease a baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the meatballs ingredients
  3. Using clean hands, meat-handling gloves or a scooper, form about 12 meatballs
  4. Add meatballs to baking sheet and bake in oven for about 18-20 minutes or until cooked through to 165 degrees F
  5. If you want to crisp them a bit, broil for 1-2 minutes too!

FAQs and tips on making broccoli cheddar meatballs:

  • What kind of ground meat works best? Ground chicken or turkey both work! I haven’t tried beef. It would work too but it would of course be a different flavor.
  • Can I make these meatballs dairy-free? Yup! Sub a dairy-free cheddar-like cheese if you want.
  • What do you serve with these? Pasta, veggies, rice, really anything we are craving!
  • Do you use fresh or frozen broccoli? I usually use frozen since I always have it on hand and my kids and I both prefer it because it’s less bitter. I just cook it in the microwave for about 1 minute before chopping for these.
