This Healthy Caramel Dip is a *must* make! You only need 1 ingredients to make it (yes, it’s that easy!) and it’s so good as a dip with fruit, cookies or do use for baking. It is naturally sweetened and vegan and gluten-free.
I am obsessed with dates. I eat them almost every single day. They’re sweet, filled with fiber and they’re great for snacking as is or using in recipes. Plus if you are cutting back on refined sugars, dates are a great alternative for you.
Lately I have been loving a sweet snack in the afternoon and this caramel sauce hits the spot. With some fresh fruit or cookies, it’s such a yummy snack to make.
Plus this ingredient really has 1 key ingredient – DATES! You will also need some hot water and some flakey sea salt to garnish. It is such a healthy and fiber-filled caramel dip and I know you guys will love this as much as I do.
And if you have leftovers from the dip, you can use this to make my twix bars too if you want. Mix with some peanut butter and YUM.
I cannot wait to hear what you think – I hope you enjoy this too!!
What ingredients you need to make caramel dip:
- Pitted medjool dates – these are the *main* ingredient to make the caramel. I don’t recommend a sub here for these
- Boiling hot water
- Sea salt for topping – technically optional but im so into this on top for extra flavor
- For serving: sliced fruit, cookies (I love these)
How to make healthy caramel sauce:
- Add the pitted dates to a bowl and cover in boiling water for 10 minutes
- Remove dates and add to a small blender or use an immersion blender in a bowl and begin to blend, adding 1-2 tbsp of the hot water as needed
- Blend until the caramel is smooth and creamy
- Sprinkle some extra flakey sea salt on top and enjoy with fruit and desired cookies (love these ones!)
FAQs and tips on making caramel dip:
- Want to add more flavor to this dip? Add in some vanilla extract, peanut butter or cinnamon to it too. You can keep it simple with just dates or you can add more flavor with some enhancements too.
- My caramel dip is too thick, what can I do – blend more of the hot water into the dates. I like this thicker because it’s great as a thick sweet dip. The longer it sits, the more it thickens too.
- Don’t skip soaking the dates! This is needed to soften them so they blend and make a creamier caramel dip.
- How should I store leftovers? In airtight container at room temperature for 3 days.
