These Hanukkah Chocolate Pretzels are an easy and fun and healthy snack idea to make for Hanukkah! Turn pretzel sticks and chocolate into the Star of David with some festive sprinkles on top.
These Star of David pretzel stars are one of my kid’s favorite things to make and eat right now. My 3 year old is constantly asking for some more “hanukkah chocolate stars” and they are an easy snack to prep and keep on hand for dessert or anytime! You only need 3 ingredients to make them and they are a fun craft of sorts too to do with your family.
Lately I have been having so much fun making Hanukkah recipes for us to enjoy. My kid’s love them and they have us feeling festive and it makes the kid’s even more excited about Hanukkah (if that is even possible). There is nothing my kids love more than sprinkles anything. I even caught my 19 month old in the pantry in my baking drawer eating sprinkles straight from the container!! They are obsessed.
Each of one these Chocolate Pretzel Stars of Davids are made from six pretzel sticks and some melted dark chocolate. You dip each pretzel in the chocolate then arrange them into a triangle, then another upside down triangle for the Star of David look! Sprinkle some sprinkles on top then let them set into the fridge for about 30 minutes unitl they are hardened.
Tip: you can use any chocolate you want to dip the pretzels in! Dark chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate, anything!
What ingredients you need to make Chocolate Star of David:
- Gluten-free pretzel sticks – if not gluten-free, you can use any pretzel sticks you want
- Dark chocolate chips – you can also use milk chocolate or semi-sweet if you prefer! I love using dark chocolate for these usually
- Hanukkah sprinkles – I used blue + white ones from this brand but you can use any sprinkles you’d like
How to make Hanukkah chocolate pretzels:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Dip a pretzel stick in the melted chocolate until fully coated then place it on baking sheet (make sure the baking sheet can fit in your refrigerator or freezer)
- Repeat with five more pretzel sticks and as each is dipped in the chocolate place them in a Star of David shape (a triangle and then an upside down triangle on top)
- Sprinkle sprinkles on top if desired
- Repeat for remaining pretzels to make desired amount
- Once finished, place the baking sheet in your refrigerator or freezer to allow the chocolate to set/harden (about 30 mins)
Tips for success:
- To melt chocolate, I usually microwave on 30-60 second increments until fully melted! Stir in between each and it will be smooth and creamy
- You can use any pretzel sticks you want for these as long as they are the smaller ones (not large pretzel rods). If you aren’t gluten-free then don’t worry about finding gluten-free ones
- I usually put the pretzel on a fork and then dip it into the bowl of melted chocolate, letting any excess drip off and then add to baking sheet. This can be a little tedious if you are a perfection making them, but we usually just let the kids go crazy and dip them!
- These are a great Hanukkah recipe to prep in advance too since they stay good in the fridge or freezer for a bit. I usually keep a stash in the freezer since Ez loves to have them after dinner
