These Chocolate Snowman Pretzels are such a fun and festive winter treat to make. They’re great for all ages and kids especially love them. Plus you only need a few ingredients to make them and they are gluten-free, nut-free and dairy free-friendly.

How adorable are these chocolate snowman pretzels guys?! I first made these for my kid’s holiday party with their friends and they were a hit. They’re also easy to make. And I promise I’m not just saying that. The only annoying part is they do take time to dip each pretzel in the chocolate but this is by no means challenging.

In fact, my kids loved helping me make these too. So if you’re looking for an activity to do with your little ones, try this dessert craft of sorts. Traditionally these snowman are made with popsicle sticks. At least that’s what I did growing up. But these ones are edible and made with pretzel sticks – so good!

These snowman pretzels make for a sweet gift or holiday surprise for someone. They can also be made school-safe as well and free of top allergens if you use the ingredients I do below.

There is really nothing not to love about these snowman pretzels with chocolate. The best blend of sweet and salty and I hope you love them too!

What ingredients you need to make snowman pretzels:

  • Gluten-free pretzel sticks – if you’re not gluten-free, you can use any pretzel sticks you want! The thin ones are best (don’t use large pretzel rods!)
  • White chocolate chips – if vegan, look for dairy-free ones
  • Dark chocolate chips – you can also use milk chocolate if you prefer over dark chocolate or even semi-sweet
  • Orange sprinkles, eye sprinkles and snowflakes – I use these to decorate the snowman face on the pretzels!

How to make chocolate snowmen:

  1. Open up bag of pretzel sticks and take out pretzel sticks that are even in size and one for the hat (just look for some that aren’t broken!)
  2. Divide the pretzels into piles of 6 pretzel sticks and 1 for the hat
  3. Dip each of the 6 pretzel sticks into melted chocolate chip then remove and allow excess to drop off into the bowl (I dipped about 80% of the pretzels into the white chocolate – see photos above)
  4. Add to parchment paper-lined baking sheet or cutting board
  5. Add sprinkles to form the eyes, nose and mouth then add to fridge for set for a few minutes
  6. Next dip the bare part of the pretzels into melted chocolate and add back to baking sheet
  7. Dip 1 pretzel stick in chocolate then add to snowman to make the hat
  8. Add sprinkle on top of hat then add to fridge so chocolate hardens and enjoy!

FAQs and tips on making snowman pretzels:

  • What kind of pretzels do you use? Pretzels sticks! I use gluten-free ones but you don’t have to if you’re not gluten-free.
  • How long do these stay good for in the fridge? About 1 week! These are great to make ahead for that reason. I made them for my kid’s holiday party 4 days before and they were great.
  • My snowman isn’t sticking together, any tips? Make sure to follow the steps exactly. Let the white chocolate part cool and harden completely in the fridge before adding the chocolate topping/hat. Also if the pretzels don’t have enough chocolate on them or too much, they won’t turn out. See photos above and below for examples.
  • Can I freeze these snowman pretzels? Absolutely! You know I love frozen desserts and these are great in the freezer.
