It’s no surprise that cottage cheese is having a moment right now and I am here for it. It is super creamy, high in protein and I love the consistency it adds to different recipes. Such as this banana pudding!
Now this is a pudding recipe that also doesn’t use gelatin. You only need a few ingredients to make it like banana, maple syrup and some cookies for serving. You can also sweeten it with more maple syrup so if you are craving something sweeter, add more!
I cannot wait to hear what you guys think of this cottage cheese pudding – let me know when you make it.
What ingredients are in this cottage cheese banana pudding:
- Cottage cheese – this is the main ingredient here so I don’t recommend a sub
- Banana – I like one that’s not totally freckled like banana bread style but one that is subtly ripe! Too green would make it too bitter and not as sweet
- Maple syrup – or more for sweeter pudding
- Vanilla extract
- Cinnamon
- For serving: vanilla cookies, whipped topping and banana
How to make banana pudding with cottage cheese:
- Add the cottage cheese, banana, maple syrup, vanilla extract and cinnamon to blender and blender until smooth and creamy
- Add to bowl of choice and serve with cookies, whipped topping and banana if desired or you can let the pudding chill for a bit before eating!

FAQs on making this high protein banana pudding:
- Is this banana pudding sweet? It is not overly sweet but the ripe banana and maple syrup add just the right amount of sweetness. And it was sweet enough for my 4 year old to think he was eating banana ice cream. If you do want something sweeter though add more maple syrup or even honey.
- How long does this cottage cheese pudding stay good for? About 5 days in the fridge. It is great chilled so feel free to double the batch to make extras too!
- Is this a healthy snack for kids? My kids love this recipe! And my 4 year old usually isn’t a banana fan so it’s shocking that he loves it so much. I also love that it adds in protein since that can be tough to get into our diets.
- What if I don’t like cottage cheese? TBH even if you don’t like it, I have a feel you will love this recipe if you like banana pudding. It doesn’t taste like cheese!

This is a fantastic recipe! I prep a couple (and the serving is quite large!) for the week and then have some quick and delicious to grab when we’re busy on the farm. My granddaughter loves it too! Two old and young thumbs up!

This stuff is so darn good. I’ve made it multiple times and have committed it to memory. I now buy the 3 pound container of cottage cheese from the grocery store to make enough servings for my whole week, and I’m not even ashamed. I have not tried this yet, but I imagine adding a ribbon of peanut butter, or mini chocolate chips would be splendid.

This is delicious! I never thought of cottage cheese as dessert material, but paired with banana, it is fantastic! I’ve never been crazy about the texture of cottage cheese, but blending it makes a big difference. Thank you!
