This Braised Broccoli Rabe with Garlicky Bacon is the ultimate Whole30-friendly side dish to spice things up. It only takes 20 minutes to cook and is absolutely delicious to pair with your meal.

Here is how to make eating vegetables 100000x more exciting guys.

Just add bacon – DUH!! And if you are also married to a bacon lover – you know that they find a way to add bacon to pretty much anything. We go through so much over here it is insane. And we also always make it in the oven (such a game changer!).

This is one of those dishes that should honestly be served in a restaurant. It is a mcjordO master piece and he completely nailed the flavor combo here. We both love broccoli rabe and bacon and this dish is too die for. Plus you can garnish with some parmesan cheese too if you are feeling it. Jord would sleep on a block of parm if he could, so you know we obviously add it every single time we cook it up.

I hope you guys love this recipe as much as we do. I can’t wait to hear what you think.

The ingredients you need to make braised broccoli rabe with bacon:

  • Bacon, cooked and chopped
  • Garlic cloves
  • Broth (veggie or chicken works)
  • Broccoli rabe, washed and trimmed 1 inch of stems off
  • Sea salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: parmesan cheese to garnish

How to make this easy broccoli rabe side dish:

  1. Warm a large skillet over medium/high heat and add in the bacon and garlic
  2. Allow the bacon to crisp a bit and when the fat is released, this acts as an oil for the pan
  3. Add in the broth and bring to a low boil then add in the broccoli rabe and stir all together, season with salt and pepper
  4. Cover with the lid and let it simmer for 5-8 minutes until softened (if there is still too much liquid after, cook for a couple minutes without the lid on medium heat)
  5. Serve while warm with desired main dishes
