Sharing my absolute favorite tuna melt recipe here on the blog! Served on your go-to bread, bagel, english muffin or anything! Hands down my favorite comfort meal made a bit healthier.
This is the ultimate ultimate lunch or quick dinner idea you guys.
Tuna melts have become one of my absolute favorite meals this quarantine. They are fast, easy and beyond comforting to eat. Bread filled with the most delicious tuna salad and topped with melted cheese, hot out of the oven. Hot DAMN!
I love that you can also use any bread or anything you have. I have been using sourdough, english muffins or everything bagels are so so good in these. Bagel is my personal fave and also english muffins lately are just too good. I have been having a soft spot for these again and buy them every single week.
This is one of those meals you can make when you don’t have too much food in the house and want fast food. Add your favorite hot sauce or even some mashed avocado and voila!
Ingredients needed to make a tuna melt:
- Wild tuna – any kind you like works!
- Mayo of choice – anything works
- Dijon mustard – my secret weapon here
- Chopped onion, celery and carrot
- Sea salt and black pepper
- Bread, bagel or english muffin of choice
- Cheese of choice
How to make the best damn tuna melt:
- Toast each slice of bread until golden
- Drain any excess liquid from tuna can into sink
- Add tuna to bowl and mix in mayo, mustard, celery/carrot/onion and sea salt and pepper and mash all together to make the tuna salad
- Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper and add tuna salad to each slice of bread and add to sheet
- Add slice of cheese on top and broil for about 2 minutes or so (the cheese will bubble)
- Remove from oven and enjoy while warm
