Make your own Yogurt Drinks at home! Save money, cut the sugar and have a healthy and delicious snack to share with your kids in just 5 minutes.
My kids are obsessed with drinkable yogurts. The yogurt drink obsession came because of my son’s school. Because every Friday they have Shabbat celebration and families bring the “school approved” snacks for the kids. One of those snacks being the beloved yogurt drinks.
I totally get why gets love yogurt drinks. They’re fruity, they’re sweet and most kids are yogurt obsessed. But I’m not into the added sugars and also how expensive they can be.
Being that my kids are big yogurt drink fans, I wanted to make it at home. And it is so incredibly easy to make your own. And it’s a great addition to breakfast or to have as a snack. There is protein, calcium and a serving of fruit in them.
This method of making them is really simple. You just need yogurt and fruit and you can easily customize it to work for you and your taste buds! We make all different flavor concoctions over here and my kids have so much fun with it.
Tip: have your kids help make them! Have them pick out what fruits to add in and they love feeling like they made something.
What ingredients are in drinkable yogurt:
- Yogurt of choice – I use greek yogurt usually but really any works. Just not one that is too thick
- Fresh or frozen fruit of choice – I did a mix of berries and also added in banana
- Optional: hemp seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds (about 2 tablespoons)
How to prepare your own yogurt drinks:
- Add the yogurt, fruit and mix-in’s if using to blender
- Blend together until smooth (about 30-60 seconds)
- Pour into desired cups and enjoy!
FAQs on making drinkable yogurt:
- What kind of yogurt works best? I usually do greek yogurt or plain yogurt of sorts. I don’t like using flavored ones because it’s added sugar and this way you can do any flavors you want. Vanilla can also work too. And for dairy-free, you can use a dairy-free yogurt too!
- What fruits can I use? A mix of so many! Bananas, mangos, berries, etc. Fresh or frozen fruits can both be used.
- Can I make these yogurt drinks sweeter? Absolutely. Add some honey or maple syrup if you want a sweeter yogurt drink. Typically I don’t add any sugar in though.
- What are some flavor ideas? strawberry banana, banana spinach, mango banana carrot, strawberry kiwi (yes you can use veggies!)
- Are these safe to give kids? My 4 year old and 2 year old love these! As long as you child can safely consume yogurt, I don’t see why not.
- How long do yogurt drinks stay good for? About 3 days in the fridge!
