This is such an easy chocolate mousse recipe using just 4 ingredients. No fancy equipment needed and it is absolutely delicious and rich.

This may just be one of the easiest recipes I have ever shared. The easiest chocolate mousse in my opinion in the universe. The recipe is ready so quickly and you will have the most rich, not overly sweet and delicious mousse ever.

I love that this recipe doesn’t require any fancy techniques or equipment. The ingredients are also so simple. And you can easily double or triple the recipe to serve more. I usually double it so that it makes enough for my entire family to have some. But I know not everyone is cooking for 4 like I do.

As soon as you bite into this mousse you are going to fall in love with it. It’s easy to make with basic ingredients. The texture is so creamy, velvety and smooth and it has the most incredible chocolate flavor in each and every bite.

The higher quality chocolate chips you use, the better the recipe will turn out. I personally love these chocolate chips and the ingredients are simple, no additives and they’re delicious to snack on too.

The only annoying part of this recipe is having to let the mousse chill for a bit. It doesn’t take some time to thicken so just be patient with it. Usually 3-4 hours for optimal texture in my opinion.

I cannot wait to hear what you think of this. I hope you love it!!

What ingredients are in this easy chocolate mousse recipe:

  • Heavy cream – I haven’t tried another option but the thickness and creaminess of heavy cream makes this recipe. If you don’t do dairy try my Vegan Peanut Butter Cup Mousse
  • Chocolate chips – you can use dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips or semi-sweet. Whichever you prefer and are craving
  • Yogurt – I used greek yogurt but really you can use any yogurt. I just love the added protein from greek yogurt
  • Maple syrup – you can also use honey if you want to make this too but I prefer maple syrup

How to make the easiest chocolate mousse:

  1. Warm cream and chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments until melted (stir in-between!)
  2. Next mix in yogurt and syrup and stir together to evenly combine
  3. Pour into ramekins of choice or mini jars then place in fridge to thicken for about 3 to 4 hours or overnight
  4. Enjoy with shaved chocolate on top!

FAQs and tips on making chocolate mousse:

  1. How long does this mousse stay fresh for? Up to 5 days in the fridge. It’s a great dessert/snack to prep ahead of time and have during the week.
  2. Can I make this dairy-free? I recommend making my Vegan Peanut Butter Cup Mousse if you want a dairy-free option.
  3. What kind of chocolate is best? Really any! You can use milk chocolate, dark chocolate or white chocolate if you prefer white chocolate too.
  4. Do I need any fancy equipment to make this? Nope! Just a bowl, microwave or even stovetop works.
