Paleo Brownie Banana Bread with a dreamy chocolate crumb topping! The most delicious and healthy gluten-free and refined sugar-free double brownie banana bread.
GUYSSSSS! Oh my gosh. I cannot even contain myself over this recipe today.
This recipe was inspired by my Paleo Dark Chocolate Marble Sweet Potato Loaf from what feels like decades ago at this point. It is still one of the most popular fall recipes with a chocolate twist. And to be honest – it is made all year around!
If you love that recipe and also love banana bread, you are in for a damn good treat today. This recipe has a delicious banana bread base, brownie loaf topping and then a chocolate crumb cake-like topping. I use some of my favorite baking mixes for this and it turned out absolutely insane.
When this loaf was baking in the oven, I knew it was going to be good. My entire apartment smelled like a bakery making banana bread and cookies and cake and it was filled with the best scents. Which is heavenly to me even sans pregnancy. So now imagine my heighten sense of smell and how flipping good this smells AND tastes.
I hope you guys love this recipe as much as we do over here. Leave a comment and rate the recipe below if you’d like 🙂
What ingredients you need to make this double layer paleo brownie banana bread loaf:
- Simple Mills Banana Bread Mix – or you can also use this Paleo Chocolate Chip Banana Bread recipe instead if you don’t have the mix
- Eggs – or use flax eggs too!
- Water – I also love using nut milk to make it extra rich
- Liquid coconut oil or avocado oil – either works!
- Simple Mills Brownie Mix – flipping live for this brownie mix! Or my Healthy Flourless Brownies (nut-free + gluten-free) but if you don’t use the mix you won’t have the ingredients for crumb toppings
How to make paleo brownie banana bread with chocolate crumb topping:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a loaf pan
- Start by making the banana bread layer but whisk together eggs, water and oil until smooth
- Add banana bread mix and mix to completely combine
- Next make the chocolate layer by whisking together eggs, melted coconut oil and water large bowl
- Add in brownie mix and mix well until complete combined then set aside
- Lastly make the chocolate crumble layer by mixing together the melted coconut oil, water and add in the brownie mix
- Stir until evenly combined (it may be crumbly, it is ok!)
- Pour banana bread on bottom of the pan and spread evenly across
- Add the chocolate layer and swirl with a tooth pick if desired, if not just leave as is
- Sprinkle the crumble layer on top and bake in oven for 30 minutes then add a layer of tin foil on top and bake for another 30 minutes or until ready! I used toothpick test to see if it is ready
- Let the bread cool for before cutting (I know, patience!!)

I’ve been dying to make this recipe since you posted it on instagram! I just tried it today and it’s delicious(!) but the brownie didn’t cook as fast as the banana bread so the brownie didn’t cook all the way. I like gooey brownies but not THAT gooey. Did I do something wrong?
Rachel
hmmm maybe your baking dish was a different size? you can always cover with foil too to bake longer
Keri
Ok thank you!
