These Halloween Oreo Rice Krispie Treats are the ultimate rice krispie treat recipe to make that combines rice crispy cereal,

You guys already know my actual OBSESSION with rice krispie treats. So you can only imagine how excited I am to share this recipe with you for Halloween!

These are the ultimate Halloween desserty snack that has a killer combo. We are using both cereal AND Oreos (well I use a copycat kind of Oreo) and the combination is just perfect. It’s crunchy, sweet and has that ooey gooey marshmallowy pull when you eat them. And you can of course add in some sprinkles or any other festive Halloween things you have on hand.

These are a great dessert to make for a Halloween party or just to enjoy whenever. I have a feeling I will be making these all year around.

Tip: add in the orange food coloring to make these even more festive! And I love adding some white chocolate chips and extra crushed up cookies on top too

What ingredients you need to make Halloween Oreo Rice Krispie Treats:

  • Crispy rice cereal – I usually use a brown rice cereal and one with little to no added sugar
  • Oreos or Oreo-like cookies – I used vanilla ones!! But really any sandwich-like cookies work
  • Salted butter – or use a vegan butter if you prefer
  • Marshmallows – large or mini work in this recipe
  • Optional: orange food coloring (we used a natural one) and white chocolate chips for topping

How to make Halloween themed rice krispie treats:

  1. Line a 9”x13” baking dish with parchment paper and grease with spray as well
  2. Pour the crispy rice cereal into a large bowl, and set aside
  3. Place the Oreos/cookies in a plastic bag and crush they are in until bite-sized pieces and add to the bowl with the cereal
  4. In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat then stir in the marshmallows
  5. Continually stir until completely melted then remove from heat and mix in food coloring if using
  6. Pour the melted marshmallows on top of the cereal/cookies and mix well
  7. Pour the mixture to the prepared baking pan and gently spread the mixture into an even layer with a greased rubber spatula
  8. Add a layer of extra crushed cookies and white chocolate chips if desired
  9. Let the treats cool completely, about 30 minutes to an hour then cut with a sharp knife, and enjoy!

Tips for success making these:

  • My biggest tip when making rice krispie treats is to make sure you line a baking dish with parchment paper or wax paper and grease it as well!
  • Then when you are pressing the cereal mixture into the dish, use a greased rubber spatula so it doesn’t all stick together and it’s easier to press down
  • For this recipe you can use any rice crispy cereal you prefer and any Oreo or Oreo-like sandwich cookie. I used a vanilla/golden Oreo type of cookie but next time we make these I’m trying the Trader Joe’s Halloween JoJo cookies!
  • You can use mini marshmallows or large marshmallows for this as well
  • If you want to make these into single serving/in a muffin tin then just add liners to a muffin tray and fill the cereal mixture in there
