So Kim Kardashian is the one to thank for this salad guys. She made this famous salad go completely viral. And it is for good reason! Such a yummy salad with salty, tangy flavors and it’s ready in 5 minutes.

In case you are wondering what the La Scala Chopped Salad is – it was created by Chef Jean Leon who owns the La Scala restaurant. It’s legendary and has gone completely viral over the last year. I am late to the game but the other day my husband bought salami and I was like “ohhhhhh let’s try that viral chopped salad”.

I love this Italian chopped salad as does my husband. It’s refreshing, satisfying (yes – satisfying!) and it’s pretty light and healthier compared to eating an Italian sandwich or pasta salad of sorts.

The La Scala Salad has so many delicious flavors from the mozzarella and salami. It has a great amount of protein too with the added chickpeas and it’s so flavorful with the homemade dressing.

I cannot wait for you guys to try this recipe too. I do want to do a summertime pasta salad with this recipe for a heartier dish too. It its too good not to make again

What ingredients you need to make La Scala Chopped Salad:

  • Extra virgin olive oil – you want to use high quality olive oil for this! Makes a huge difference for the flavor of the dressing
  • Red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar – red wine vinegar is traditionally used for this but you can use apple cider vinegar too if that’s all you have
  • Garlic cloves – fresh garlic cloves are preferred over garlic powder
  • Dijon mustard – never underestimate the power of dijon! This adds such a kick to the dressing
  • Pecorino Romano cheese – freshly grated cheese is best for this dressing flavor wise
  • Iceberg lettuce – I like to buy pre-shredded and washed if I can
  • Romaine lettuce – same here, I like to buy pre-shredded and washed if I can
  • Chickpeas – I love how these add protein and a different texture to the salad
  • Italian salami – who doesn’t love salami?! Enjoy in this delicious salad!
  • Mozzarella cheese – I buy pre-shredded cheese to save time but you can grate it yourself too

How to make this famous Italian chopped salad:

  1. Whisk together the salad dressing ingredients in a jar or small jar. I like to put the lid on and shake to combine.
  2. In a large bowl, add the salad ingredients and mix
  3. Dress with desired amount of salad dressing and enjoy!

FAQs and tips on making La Scala Chopped Salad:
