I am obsessed with these spiders! Chocolate peanut butter spiders are the ultimate recipe to make if you love peanut butter cups as much as I do. Which I am assuming most of you do since we tend to have the same taste buds.

These are like Reese’s Pumpkin vibes but with a crunchy salty twist with the pretzels!

These little critters are so fun and tasty and easy to make. My kids love them and they’re so so cute to make for Halloween! They don’t take much time to put together and even if cute Pinterest-y things aren’t your thing, you can make these.

I am all about making the easiest desserts so you should know that if I am making it, you can make these too! The combination of peanut butter, chocolate and salty pretzel goodness is beyond in these. I cannot wait for you to try them too!

What ingredients you need to make these chocolate spiders:

  • Creamy peanut butter – this is the brand I use the most. Depending on the brand you use, you may need more or less almond flour
  • Maple syrup – or you can use honey if you prefer
  • Almond flour – I havent tried another flour but if you prefer to use gf flour or oat flour, that can work!
  • Vanilla extract – I love adding this for flavor
  • Chocolate chips – you can use milk chocolate, dark chocolate, semi-sweet you pick!
  • Gluten-free pretzel sticks – or any pretzel sticks you prefer
  • Candy eye balls – I love adding these for decoration

How to make edible Chocolate Peanut Butter Spiders:

  1. Add peanut butter, almond flour, syrup and vanilla to a bowl and mix
  2. Roll the peanut butter mixture into balls, about 1-2 tablespoon eace
  3. Place the peanut butter balls on a baking sheet or plate lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil
  4. Set in the freezer for 20 minutes to harden
  5. Right before the 20 minutes are up, melt the chocolate
  6. Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe dish and heat for 15-30 second intervals, stirring in between (add coconut oil if needed)
  7. Remove the peanut butter balls from the freezer and add the pretzels
  8. Break each pretzel stick in half and use the broken end to gently push into the ball on either side to create “legs”
  9. Place them back in the freezer for 5 more minutes to firm up even more before coating them in chocolate
  10. Gently dip them top down into the melted chocolate. Make sure the legs are thoroughly covered in chocolate
  11. Place them back on the sheet or plate and freeze them for at least another 20 minutes or in fridge to firm and enjoy!

FAQs and tips on making these Halloween spiders:

  • What is the best way to store these spiders? In the fridge for 1 week or freezer for 2 months. They usually fly out of our house though!
  • What kind of chocolate works best in this recipe? Dark chocolate is my personal preference for these but you can use semi-sweet or milk too.
  • The peanut butter balls aren’t stay together, what happened? It is probably the peanut butter you used. If it is too runny, it will require more flour! If you can’t form balls from the batter, add more flour.
  • I can’t eat peanut butter, what do I do? Almond butter, tahini or cashew butter!
