You only need one ingredient to make fruit shaved ice! This is such an easy and healthy idea using your favorite frozen fruit. Using either a food processor, shave ice attachment or microplane to make it and enjoy as a delicious breakfast or snack bowl.

Chilled treats and things are a favorite in most homes. My kids love all things fruit and these fruit shaved ice bowls are a hot commodity over here. I make them for an easy snack or breakfast idea really any time of the day. Anything fruit + cold is a hit with my kids like Strawberry Yogurt BarkFruit and Veggie Freezie Pops and Fruit Sorbet (2-ingredients).

Shaved ice, also called snow cones or shaved snow, is a classic summertime treat to make. Usually it’s filled with syrups and sugar but this version is simple with just frozen fruit. You can use any frozen fruit you want to make it and you can either use a food processor or microplane.

Both will give you a light and fluffy texture that you want in shaved ice. Plus this recipe is made with just one ingredient, takes 5 minutes to make and it’s so delicious either on its own or paired with some yogurt, whipped topping and some crunchy toppings!

What ingredients you need to make Shaved Fruit Ice:

  • Frozen fruit! It is that simple. Usually I use frozen peaches, watermelon, strawberries or nectarines. But you can really use any that you prefer.

How to make Shaved Fruit Ice:

In the food processor:

  1. Attach the shredding blade to your food processor then add in the fruit
  2. Use the tamper to push the frozen fruit with force down the food processor (the larger the fruit, the firmer you will need to push)
  3. Add to bowl of choice and serve with desired toppings! I did yogurt, maple syrup and some crunchy cereal on top

With a microplane:

  1. Take out the bowl you’d like to serve shaved fruit ice in
  2. Add in desired base like greek yogurt or whipped topping
  3. Gently grate the fruit using the microplane directly into the bowl
  4. Serve while cool with toppings!

With shave ice attachment:

  1. Blend together the fruit you are using until liquid (can be fresh or frozen)
  2. Pour into the shave ice cups to freezer overnight
  3. Attach shave ice attachment to KitchenAid stand mixer and place on frozen puree block inside
  4. Place a bowl underneath the attachment and turn the power setting to 10 and fill bowl and enjoy!

FAQs on making Fruit Shaved Ice Bowls:

  1. Can I save this if there’s left over? It tastes best enjoyed immediately. If you have leftover, don’t let it go to waste. Just add to freezer or even into fridge and use a as a syrup of sorts once it’s in liquid form (so good in yogurt).
  2. What kind of fruit works best? Thicker fruits work best like strawberries or peaches have been my favorite. Plums or nectarines could also work nicely
  3. Which method do you prefer? It really depends on how much you’re making. For shave ice over a parfait type bowl then a microplane works. If you want to make more, I prefer the shave ice attachment or food processor
