This is a quick homemade Mallomar Recipe to make using your favorite cookies, marshmallows and chocolate!

I LOVE Mallomars. We always used to get a box of them around this time of year. But then Jord had to cut out gluten and basically I can’t bring them in my home because he gets too jealous.

I had a box of mini vanilla cookies and some marshmallows and decided to take a stab and making our own Mallomars. I was pretty hesitant on this idea and didn’t think they’d actually turn out good. But WOW they not only were incredibly easy to make – they tasted amazing. That crunchy but gooey texture and the chocolate shell on the outside of the cookie and marshmallow really hit the spot.

You can use any marshmallows, cookies and chocolate you have on hand so these are a great “use what you’ve got” kind of meal!

Tip: use your favorite chocolate to coat these cookies in! Either a milk chocolate or dark chocolate will work

What ingredients you need to make these DIY Mallomars:

  • Mini gluten-free vanilla cookies – I used these ones and they worked great
  • Vegan marshmallows – cut in half! And of course, if not vegan then use any marshmallow you’d like
  • Chocolate chips – melted! You can use dark chocolate or milk chocolate for this, whichever you prefer

How to make your own Mallomar Recipe:

  1. Take the sticky side of the marshallows (where it was cut) and press down firmly onto the top of a cookie
  2. Using a spoon, coat each cookie with chocolate then add to lined baking sheet
  3. Repeat for remaining cookies and marshmallows
  4. Add the baking sheet to fridge to set for at least 1 hour then enjoy!

Tips for success making Mallomars:

  • Make sure to use large marshmallows and cut them in half. Using mini ones won’t work!
  • You can really use any vanilla/shortbread/graham cracker cookie for the base. I usually use whatever I have on hand
  • Dark chocolate or milk chocolate can work here. Depending on the chocolate you use, you may need to use coconut oil to melt the chocolate
  • Store these in an airtight container for up to 5 days (these don’t freeze well)
