These Big Mac Tacos are absolutely delicious! A take on the viral smash tacos that we all love made with just a few simple ingredients inspired by the McDonald’s classic Big Mac.

If you love tacos, Big Macs and mash burgers – this is the trifecta of meal for you. I am obsessed with this recipe guys. And my husband literally goes “this tastes like a Big Mac wtf?!?!”. Whoever started this trend, this is amazing.

Crispy tortillas with a juicy smashed burger on top, melted cheese and all the big mac tacos we all crave including the sauce. There is really nothing not to love about these. Plus this recipe is also an easy dinner idea. It takes 15 minutes to make and my 4 year old (the cheeseburger king himself) loves this recipe too. So if your family loves cheeseburgers, try making this soon.

Mine aren’t as small as some of the Big Mac Tacos you may have seen on social media. I used 8-inch flour tortillas so it’s a bit larger than a smaller taco.

I hope you guys love this recipe as much as we do. It truly is one of our favorites for dinner right now – especially with the Big Mac sauce.

What ingredients you need to make Big Mac Tacos at home:

  • Ground beef – in theory you could do a another ground meat but beef is the classic Big Mac meat
  • Tortillas – I used 8-inch gluten-free ones but you can use any you’d like
  • American cheese – or you can use cheddar cheese if you want
  • White onion – if you don’t love onion, you can omit this but of course the classic Big Mac has
  • Pickles, shredded lettuce and sesame seeds – some of the dreamy toppings for the tacos!
  • Mayonnaise – use your go-to mayonnaise recipe
  • Ketchup – unsweetened ketchup is preferred
  • Sweet relish – random but so needed for the flavor
  • Yellow mustard – if you don’t have yellow mustard, dijon can work too
  • Vinegar – I used apple cider vinegar because it’s all we have

How to make smashed Big Mac Tacos:

  1. Prepare the big mac sauce by mixing in a small bowl and set aside
  2. Make the tacos by diving beef info 6 portions that are ball shaped (I use gloves)
  3. Press meat onto tortilla to flatten to edges and season with salt and pepper
  4. Warm a large skillet then add tacos beef side down and don’t move for 2-3 minutes on medium heat
  5. Gently flip the taco over and add cheese on top and skillet with lid and cook patties for 2-3 more minutes and remove from heat

FAQs and tips on making Big Mac Tacos:

  • What is a Big Mac Taco? It is the perfection of a McDonald’s Big Mac but in taco form. Think a juicy beef patty, special sauce, cheese, lettuce, pickles and onions but instead of a bun – it is on a tortilla.
  • Preheat your skillet – I recommend heating the skillet for a minute or so before adding the beef on top. Since the beef is a thin layer, it only needs to cook briefly on the skillet.
  • Smash the patties – smashing the tortillas with beef while it’s in the pan makes a flat surface that’s constantly in touch with the pan. That way the beef cooks quickly too.
  • To keep the tacos warm as you make the others – keep them in the oven on a lower temp like 250 degrees F.
