Just what the blog needs… yet another banana bread recipe!

Except I am totally being serious. There are never too many banana breads over here. At this point though, I definitely lost count over how many we have on the blog. But today we have a brand new loaf.

A Chocolate SWIRL Banana Bread made with all gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan ingredients. Sweetened with a bit of maple syrup and banana.

This banana bread is the newest obsession over here. I love that it has a perfectly moist consistency with a little sweetness from banana and maple syrup with some chocolate. It makes for the most delicious dessert, snack or breakfast with a little yogurt and granola on top.

What I love the most about this recipe is how easy it is to make. You don’t have to swirl it if you don’t want and can make it a double decker type of banana bread with the simple kind on bottom then chocolate on top.

What ingredients you’ll need to bake this paleo loaf:

  • Flax egg – 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 2.5 tablespoons water
  • Mashed banana – you can use applesauce too if you don’t have bananas
  • Maple syrup – you can sub honey too! or omit if you don’t want added sugar
  • Almond flour or almond meal – either works!
  • Cacao powder
  • Chocolate chips

Paleo Chocolate Swirl Banana Bread made with all vegan and gluten-free ingredients like almond flour, maple syrup and flax egg.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 mashed bananas (about 1 cup)
  • 1 flax egg (or sub 1 egg)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup (honey works)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups almond flour or meal
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (code RACHL for free shipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a loaf pan with parchment paper and grease well
  2. Whisk together banana, egg, maple syrup and vanilla until creamy
  3. Mix in flours and baking powder until full combined
  4. Add 1/2 the batter to the loaf pan
  5. Mix in the cacao to the remaining powder and mix in the chocolate chips
  6. Add on top of batter in loaf pan and swirl with knife if desired
  7. Bake in oven for 40-45 minutes or until ready
  8. Slice and enjoy!

*Store in airtight container for 5 days or freezer for longer
