When I tell people that my brother has a nut allergy, they look at me like I am crazy! I grew up loving peanut butter everything and eating tons of PB&J sandwiches, Reese’s etc. but we always had to be extra cautious in the kitchen for Seth just incase.
Nowadays there are a lot of schools that don’t allow nut-based products in them and more and more people have nut allergies. This can definitely be a struggle trying to eat healthier since many things have almond flours or nut butters in them. But after testing recipes for the past few years, I have a handful of recipes on the blog that are healthy and delicious (at least I think so!) while also are still nut-free.
I find it is really easy to also sub most recipes to make them nut free-friendly. You can use tahini or sunflower butter instead of nut-based butters like peanut and almond. Gluten-free oat flour and spelt flour are two of my personal faves to go to for nut-free flours (and coconut too if you can eat coconut-based products!). Any recipes on my blog that call for almond milk or any nut milk can easily be subbed 1:1 with coconut milk, oat milk, hemp milk, anything!
When it comes to brands, I love that Enjoy Life Food’s is free of the top allergens (including nuts) so anyone with severe allergies can eat these products. Their baking chocolate is my absolute fave!
Below you will find a handful of my go-to nut-free recipes when I’m making something for anyone with a nut allergy or even if they just don’t enjoy the taste. There is a mix of cookies, cinnamon rolls and various other sweet treats for you guys to whip up!
